Chris was born and bred and began his career in his home town of Matlock, Derbyshire. He took his first Commis Chef position at Riber Hall then moving quickly through the ranks he headed for North Wales and Hotel Maes-y-Neaudd where he spent 2 years as second Chef. Next stop was Ynshir Hall in mid Wales, as joint Head Chef. Here he gained 2 AA Rosettes for the first time and appeared in the Good Food Guide. The next step was Head Chef at Cromlix House in Scotland, whilst Chris loved Scotland, he loved Karen (now his wife) even more and followed her in a south westerly direction to Devon. Chris was then at Northcote Manor for nearly 3 years and established himself and his kitchen brigade as one of the best in Devon. They have achieved three RAC Dining Accolades, two AA Rosettes and recommendations in the Good Food Guide. Chris and Karen now have their own restaurant, Dawson's Restaurant,
between Sidmouth and Exeter. |
